1. Loading & Unloading Containers:
• Lift containers on and off trucks, railcars, and storage stacks using the straddle carrier.
• Ensure proper placement of containers based on yard planning and stacking orders.
2. Transporting Containers:
• Move containers within the terminal between ships, storage areas, and gate checkpoints.
3. Equipment Operation & Control:
• Operate the straddle carrier with precision from an elevated cabin, often at heights of 15+ feet.
• Use onboard systems to monitor container weights and placement.
4. Inspection & Safety Checks:
• Perform routine inspections of the straddle carrier before and after use.
• Report mechanical issues or malfunctions to maintenance teams.
5. Coordination with Ground Staff:
• Communicate via radio with supervisors, planners, and ground personnel for safe and efficient operations.
• Follow hand signals and instructions when working near teams.
